FRESNO, March 22, 2018 For Leslie Troxel, family and community go hand in hand.
Troxel opened a Sears Garage Solutions franchise in 2009 with her husband. At the time, her son was first getting involved in the Future Farmers of America (FFA). Nearly a decade later, Troxel's children are in college, out of school or working with the family business, but the commitment to helping the farmers of tomorrow still resonates for the Troxel family today.
Troxel is one of many business owners who partner with their local Booster club to donate money, products and services such as garage repairs and garage door installations, for the FFA's annual auction and barbecue on April 14. The funds raised in a day support the chapter's commitment to agriculture for an entire year. The Booster club also offers a $10,000 scholarship to help students become the next generation of American farmers.
"We feel grateful to have a great community where everyone gets involved and helps support the students and their activities," Troxel said. "It's important to show kids that others do care about how they are doing and are here to lend support."
"Sears takes pride in helping franchise owners find ways to support causes that matter to us," Troxel said. "Our son still gives back to the high school because of the lessons learned with FFA and anything we can do to help is well worth the time."
